Have a listen. This journalist, a David Baker, formerly of the Financial Times, seems to have no difficulty talking of Europeans and saying “people of European descent”, but “people of African descent” is a phrase that by contrast he daren’t utter at all, “African” is barely mentioned and Africa not at all: “blacks” is his lingua franca. Amazing, some patterns of thinking.
